Crazy thought... being set free for freedom's sake. But that was the intent of Christ to set us free, not only from sin, but from the world and self. Similarly our founding fathers created a system of government that was intended to give it's people maximum freedom.
And yet this freedom comes with great pain and sacrifice and conflict. Surrounding the individual, the communities, the states, the nations, and even the world is an army looking to enslave. Enslaved with addiction. Enslaved with government. Enslaved by all manner of people. A slavery not of metal chains and locks, but a slavery of mind, through the body and it's desires.
I am thankful for those who gave their life for our nation's independence. But I am more thankful for a Savior that gave me eternal independence. I pray that we all would exercise our freedom for the sake of freedom.
