7th Day

Genesis 2:3 "Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made."

Ecclesiastes 4:6, "One hand full of rest is better than two fists full of labor and striving after wind."

Matthew 11:89-29, "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Taking the day off to rest with God.

Henri Nouwen encourages this resting, and alone with God. He says, "If indeed the spirtual life is essentially a hidden life, how do we protect this hiddenness in the midst of a very public life? The two most important ways to protect our hiddenness are solitude and poverty. Solitude allows us to be alone with God. There we experience that we belong not to people, not even to those who love us and care for us, but to God and God alone."
